New moons signify new beginnings and the start of a new cycle. Since this new moon is in Pisces, qualities of compassion, enlightenment, and emotional well being will be in focus; this is a good time to help others or forgive those in your life against whom you may have been holding a grudge. Extra focus will be on those things that test you, as Pisces rules the Twelfth House, that of inner secrets.
Mercury (Messenger of the gods) and Uranus (god of infinite knowledge) are right on top of the Sun and Moon; we have an opportunity to start over, selecting a new direction. But instead of just dropping things from our past, or merely adopting a new iconoclastic strategy for the sake of being different; listen to your own inner intuition. Set your intentions for this next lunar month; honor the past, let go of preconceptions, and be open to spontaneous solutions for difficult problems.
The electrifying March 15 New Moon brings a preview of these coming changes. The reinvention process begins, as the Sun and Moon join shocking Uranus and clever Mercury in the intuitive sign of Pisces. We may have a psychic flash that awakens a dream, or a surprising experience that takes us in a new direction. We’re also particularly attuned to others’ suffering now. And, our own pain might feel more acute. Because Pisces is so watery and emotional, it’s wise to stay connected to our bodies, honor our feelings and not allow our fears to run away with us.
As we enter uncharted territory at this New Moon, we’re upgrading our approach to life. Dare to express a latent part of yourself. Open your heart to others without taking on their pain. Stay grounded by breathing deeply. And, be alert to messages from Spirit or your higher consciousness that point you toward liberation — whatever form it may take.
Wherever Pisces falls in your chart, you seek to create a sanctuary into which you can retreat from the rancor and agitation of daily life. But as anyone who has lived in a monastery can tell you, retreat and sanctuary don’t exempt us from working on our issues! In fact, I think the areas of life symbolized in our birth charts by Pisces are sacred not just because they’re places where we can retreat and regroup, but because they describe where we meet the issues that stand between us and true inner peace.
Where is your sanctuary? Where are you called to create an oasis of peace and tranquility in the midst of life’s often harsh landscape? At this New Moon, find the Piscean sacred space in your life. Clear it physically and symbolically, anoint it with incense – and maybe a little Murphy’s Oil Soap – and transform it into your dream home.
The sabian symbol for 26 Pisces is:
Watching the very thin moon crescent appearing at sunset, different people realize the time has come.
This is a symbol of universal initiative as a basic dynamic in any personal scheme of things, and it reveals itself most simply in man’s instinctive and often blind outreach to the reality in which he participates. His action must be tentative until he achieves his own true self-discovery, but he makes a fine skill of his uncertainty and refuses to commit himself except as he encounters a full response to his deeper realization and ultimate motives. The keyword is diversifying. When positive, the degree is a thoroughgoing capitalization on life’s transitions and effective development of every emerging potentiality of self, and when negative, a completely disruptive vacillation.
Here the Sabian symbol is reinforcing what the aspect of the conjunction to this New Moon is saying. We must use our instinctive and intuitive forces and abilities to discover our unique style and in developing these abilities will lead to our full potential and the fulfillment of our sojourn in this lifetime, and to accomplish the potential and the importance of this New Moon period.
